The Provincial Custody of St. Anthony of Padua in Ghana celebrated some special religious events in August of 2019.
On Friday, August 2, ten postulants from Ghana, one from Burkina Faso and one from Uganda were vested with the habit of probation to begin their novitiate year.
The vesting took place at the Divine Mercy Chapel of the Franciscan Valley of Prayer and Silence in Saltpond, Ghana.
The postulants from Ghana being vested were Ackon Kwame Dominic, Richmond Panyin Assafuah, Matthew Mensah, Agyekum Dennis Dei, Mensah Nwoza Clement, Emmanuel Osei, Asamoah Isaac, Geuenole Ziem Da, Justice Kwame Yalley and Ennin Nicholas Opiesaw.
The postulant from Uganda was Francis MUSAANYA and the postulant from Burkina Faso was Kabore Kionbi Honore.
The new novices were vested by Friar Isaac FRIMPONG (Custodial Secretary) who was delegated by the Vicar Custos. He later entrusted the new novices to the care of their Novice Director, Friar Moses ARTHUR and his Assistant, Friar Stephen AMO.
On Saturday, August 10, six friars from Ghana made their solemn profession.
The ceremony took place at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Awoshie, Accra.
Those making their solemn profession were Friars Leonard CUDJOE, Emmanuel NSIAH, Christian AHIAWODZI, Daniel AFFUL, Gabriel BOATENG and Kennedy TSORMEY.
They professed their vows into the hands of the Vicar Custos, Friar Eugene ANTWI BOASIAKO with Friars David Marian KWAW and Isaac FRIMPONG witnessing.
The Vicar Custos later expressed his sincere gratitude to their second Novice Master, Friar David Marian KWAW and all the friars who shared their experiences with them during the second novitiate program.
As the month progresses, the newly professed friars will move on to various formation houses to continue their theological studies.
