On January 11, 2025, the Provincial Custody of St. Anthony of Padua in Ghana celebrated its first priestly ordination of the year. On that day, the Most Reverend John Kobina LOUIS, Auxiliary Bishop of Accra, Ghana, ordained Friar John Decribb Jackson AMANKWAA to the priesthood.
The ordination took place at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Awoshie-Anyaa [Greater Accra]. Those present included the Pastor, Friar Pius Kofi ASARE; the Custos, Friar Vitus Edem Yao MENSAH, some friars, and the parents, family members and friends of Friar John Decribb. In addition, there were some priests from the Archdiocese of Accra as well as some parishioners.
In his homily, the bishop urged Friar John Decribb to remember that he has been called to be a minister of Christ, a prophet and a servant, just as Christ the shepherd was, who guided all who came his way. He encouraged Friar John Decribb to remain steadfast in his new journey and to take after our founder St. Francis of Assisi by embracing humility in the way that Christ did. We wish our brother, Friar John Decribb, the very best on his vocational and priestly journey.
