On May 12, 2022, four friars of the Provincial Custody of St. Anthony of Padua in Ghana were ordained to the diaconate by the Most Reverend Anthony ADANUTY, Bishop Emeritus of Keta-Akatsi, Ghana. The event took place at the St. Francis of Assisi Church in Awoshie-Anya, Ghana.

The new deacons are Friars Leonard CUDJOE, Louis Etsey NANEWODO, Felix Nana Kwame AGYAPONG and Edward Kutin MENSAH. The Custodial Vicar, Friar Eugene ANTWI-BOASIAKO, welcomed the bishop and thanked him for having accepted the invitation to ordain the four friars.
In his homily, Bishop ADANUTY admonished the friars to preach the Gospel, especially by means of their lifestyle. He said the call to serve as a deacon is comparable to a man who sits down on a crooked branch in order to straighten it. God calls deacons as instruments to impart His grace to His people. For this reason, they must serve with humility.
Those attending the ordinations included friars, priests, religious and some parishioners from the St. Francis of Assisi Church.
In addition, on May 21, 2022, Friars Jonathan MUTUO and Sylvester Eugene KOOMSON were ordained deacons in Padua, Italy, by our confrere, the Most Reverend Gianfranco Agostino GARDIN, OFM Conv., Archbishop-Bishop Emeritus of Treviso, Italy. Others attending included the Minister Provincial of the Italian Province of St. Anthony of Padua (Northern Italy), Friar Roberto BRANDINELLI and the Custodial Vicar from Ghana, Friar Eugene ANTWI-BOASIAKO.
