On August 2, 2024, five young men from the West African Jurisdictions of Ghana and Burkina Faso were vested in the Conventual Franciscan habit. The vesting took place during a simple ceremony at the Franciscan Valley of Prayer and Silence in Saltpond, Ghana.
The new novices are Justice AMOAH, Keneth Osei AMOAKE, John MENSAH and Cletus AGYEMANG of the Provincial Custody of St. Anthony of Padua in Ghana, and Raphael SAWADOGO of the Provincial Delegation in Burkina Faso. The Provincial Custos, Friar Vitus Yao Edem MENSAH, presided over the ceremony. He urged the new novices to strive for the ideals of Gospel life, assuring them that while their journey may not be easy, God’s grace would help them throughout. We wish our confreres well during their year of probation so that, as they have requested, they may truly be tested in the way of the Spirit as they begin their journey of Franciscan discipleship.
