On November 5, 19, and 26, 2024, Friar Michael LASKY, the General Delegate for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC), conducted classes for the online course on Franciscanism (in English) being offered by the Seraphicum College in Rome.
During these classes, the participants explored the potential of “Franciscan Prayer in Action,” as a way of proclaiming “Jesus is Lord” in today’s world. The classes also explored the development of papal social doctrine grounded in the Franciscan intellectual tradition, particularly as articulated by seven Secular Franciscan popes from 1846 to 1963, namely, Pius IX, Leo XIII, Pius X, Benedict XV, Pius XI, Pius XII, and John XXIII. Additionally, the classes explored how Franciscan spirituality has continued to enhance the development of the Church’s social doctrine, from Vatican II through to the current pontificate of Pope Francis.
