On Saturday, November 25, 2023, a conference was held at the Sacred Convent in Assisi under the theme: “The Later Rule: A Franciscan Form of Life.”  The event was part of an ongoing conference series created by Friar Domenico PAOLETTI, President of the Commission for Culture of the General Custody of the Sacred Convent of St. Francis of Assisi. The series is entitled: “The 2023 Courtyard of Francis Spread throughout the Year.”

Many lay people, sisters and friars attended the conference in order to learn more about the genesis of the Later Rule of St. Francis, its spiritual and charismatic content, and its relevance today. The conference was held just a few days before the 800th anniversary of the confirmation of the Later Rule (November 29, 1223).
After some opening remarks by the General Custos, Friar Marco MORONI, Professor Paolo CAPITANUCCI was entrusted with moderating the event. At the end of the evening, the Most Reverend Domenico SORRENTINO, Bishop of Assisi, and Stefania PROIETTI, the Mayor of Assisi, spoke to those present.
Special thanks to the speakers at the event, in particular, Professor Attilio BARTOLI LANGELI; the Most Reverend Felice ACCROCCA, Archbishop of Benevento, Italy; and Sister Marzia CESCHIA. Their contributions helped everyone to better understand the ever timely legacy of St. Francis of Assisi.
Videos of all three lectures will be made available on the Courtyard of Francis YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@cortiledifrancesco [Italian language only].
