On October 15, 2024, a very interesting event took place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in Central Asia. The friars of the Provincial Delegation in Uzbekistan of the Province of St. Anthony and Bl. James of Strepar in Poland (Cracow), met with the friars of the Russian General Custody of St. Francis of Assisi.

After introductory remarks from Friar Michał GRUSZKA, the Provincial Delegate in Uzbekistan, Friar Paweł BLOK gave a brief report on the history of the Franciscans in Kazakhstan. Next, Friar Waldemar MACKIEWICZ gave a report on the history of the Franciscans in Russia. He was followed by Friar Stanisław ROCHOWIAK who gave a report on the history of the Franciscans in Uzbekistan.
Afterwards, the friars recited Evening Prayer together with some nuns and faithful of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Church. Finally, the Most Reverend Jerzy MACULEWICZ, Apostolic Administrator of Uzbekistan, presided over Eucharistic Adoration and Mass.

This meeting was the culmination of a spiritual retreat undertaken by the friars of the Russian General Custody, led by Bishop MACULEWICZ.
