The members of the Province of St. Maximilian Kolbe in India were blessed by the presence of the Minister General, Friar Carlos Alberto TROVARELLI, who stayed in the Province from August 5-26, 2022. While there, he found time to visit several of the Province’s missions and communities.

On Saturday, August 6, the Minister General, together with the Minister Provincial of India, Friar Bonaventure KALLUVETTUKUZHIYIL, went to Kolkata in northeastern India to visit the Mission in India [West Bengal] shared jointly with the Province of St. Paul the Apostle in Malta. They were welcomed by the Minister Provincial of Malta, Friar Colin SAMMUT and the Director of the Mission in Kolkata, Friar Manuel MANICOMPEL VARKEY. The two guests stayed until Thursday, August 11. While there, they met with the Most Reverend Victor LYNGDOH, Archbishop of Shillong, India, and the Most Reverend Paul MATTEKATT, Bishop of Diphu, India. They also laid the foundation stone for the friars’ new presence at Daldali in Diphu. During August 13-15, the Minister General participated in a fraternal gathering of friar priests, students, novices, postulants and minor seminarians from the States of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and the City of Kolkata.
On Wednesday, August 17, the Minister General, along with the Minister Provincial of India, visited the San Cupertino Franciscan Ashram of the Provincial Delegation in India [Andhra Pradesh – Telangana]. The Delegate, Friar Louis PANTHIRUVELIL, gave them a warm welcome. While there, the Minister General took part in a fraternal gathering of the Delegation and visited all of its communities. On Monday, August 22, the Minister General and the Minister Provincial of India returned to Kerala. On Thursday, August 25, the Minister General returned to Italy. The friars thank the Minister General for all of the wonderful memories.
