On Saturday, June 6, 2026, Friar Peter PIKULÍK, a member of the Provincial Custody of the Immaculate Conception of the B.V.M. in Slovakia, was ordained to the priesthood. The ordination took place at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Bratislava, Slovakia. The Most Reverend Jozef HAL’KO, Auxiliary Bishop of Bratislava, conferred the Sacrament of Holy Orders through the laying on of hands and the prayer of consecration.
Among those attending the ordination were the Minister General, Friar Carlos Alberto TROVARELLI; the Assistant General for the Foederatio Europae Mediae et Orientalis (FEMO), Friar Tomáš LESŇÁK; the Custos of the Provincial Custody of Slovakia, Friar Martin M. KOLLÁR; other friars from Slovakia and the Czech Republic; and some priests from Slovakia and Italy.
In his homily, Bishop HAĽKO recalled that earlier this year, during the Chrism Mass at St. Martin’s Cathedral in Bratislava, Friar Peter, then a deacon, had brought the sacred Chrism with which he would now be shortly anointed. He also recalled that before Friar Peter, entered the Order, he studied photography at the University of Zlín in the Czech Republic. At that time, he submitted a photograph of himself dressed in a religious habit―a photo that reflected his discernment between a vocation to consecrated life and marriage. When he looked at the photograph again six years later, “the pieces fell into place,” and he realized that his path was consecration to God.
Bishop HAĽKO also pointed out that, in the Gospel passage that Friar Peter chose for this occasion, the Lord Jesus says: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest” (Mt 11:28). Indeed, it is the Lord who gives us the strength to persevere on the path of our vocation and to attract others to the values of the Gospel.
