On May 14, 2022, Friar Robert CALLEJA of the Province of St. Paul the Apostle in Malta was ordained to the priesthood by the Most Reverend Charles Jude SCICLUNA, Archbishop of Malta. The ordination was held at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Mdina, Malta. Two other diocesan priests were ordained along with Friar Robert.
The next day, Friar Robert celebrated his first Mass at the St. Francis Church in Rabat, where there is a small but important shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Good Health. Only Friar Robert’s family members and the friars of Malta were able to attend. There were few other people there to give thanks to God for the gift of the priesthood; just two families, Friar Robert’s natural family and his Conventual one.
On August 25, Friar Robert celebrated a Mass of Thanksgiving to thank God for the gift of his priesthood. The Mass was celebrated at the St Francis Church in Birkirkara, a church that is very dear to Friar Robert. Those attending included the friars of Malta, Friar Robert’s whole family, various benefactors and many friends. During the Mass, the hymns were performed by the New Choral Singers—a choir Friar Robert directed for ten years before he joined the Conventual Franciscans. After the Mass, everyone attended a reception in the nearby reception hall.
