On July 1, 2025, the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, appointed His Excellency Edward KAWA, OFM Conv., previously the Auxiliary Bishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Lviv of the Latins, as Bishop of the Diocese of Kamyanets-Podilskyi of the Latins, Ukraine.

Curriculum vitae
On October 1, 1996, he entered the Order of Friars Minor Conventual. From 1995 to 1999, he received his religious formation in Cracow, Poland. He began his novitiate on September 24, 1996, and professed his simple vows on September 28, 1997.
He subsequently carried out his studies in philosophy and theology at the Mary Queen of Apostles Major Seminary in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation, where he was ordained to the priesthood on June 1, 2003.
Upon returning to his homeland, Ukraine, he held the following pastoral and community positions:

  • 2003–2004: Parochial Vicar and then Pastor at the parish of the Friars Minor Conventual in Boryspil.
  • 2004–2009: Superior of the community in Kremenchuk.
  • 2009-2010: Chaplain and Superior of the St. Bonaventure Friary in Boryspil.
  • 2010–2012: Pastor and Superior of the local community in Matskivtsi.
  • 2012–2016: Superior of the friary in Boryspil.
  • 2016–2017: Guardian of the St. Anthony Friary in Lviv, where the friars have pastoral care of the St. Anthony Parish Church.

From 2008 to 2017, he was the Delegate of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual for Ukraine. On September 14, 2020, the Delegation was elevated to the Provincial Custody of the Holy Cross, dependent on the Province of St. Anthony and Bl. James of Strepar in Poland (Cracow).
On May 13, 2017, he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Lviv of the Latins. On the following June 21, he received episcopal ordination. Since 2023, he has served as the Secretary of the Ukrainian Episcopal Conference.

May the Lord guide our confrere in his episcopal ministry, so that his pastoral work in the Diocese of Kamyanets-Podilskyi may be productive and bear the lasting fruits of living faith, steadfast hope and active charity.
