Celebrations for the 5th anniversary of the beatification of the Martyrs of Pariacoto, Friars Michał TOMASZEK and Zbigniew STRZAŁKOWSKI, were recently held in Peru and in Poland.
The centerpiece of the celebrations was a Mass celebrated on December 5, 2020, in the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Cracow. One particularly curious note was that among the participants at the liturgy there was the Rector of the diocesan seminary of Cracow and some of his seminarians in their fourth year of theological studies. All of them, at the beginning of their formation, had chosen our Blessed Friars as their patrons.
At the invitation of the Minister Provincial of the Province of St. Anthony and Bl. James of Strepar in Poland (Cracow), Friar Marian GOŁĄB, the General Delegate for Missionary Animation, Friar Dariusz MAZUREK, was also present. He had previously served as a missionary in Peru and was also a member of the Commission for the Preparation of the Beatification.
Several days earlier, the theme of the anniversary and information about our martyred missionaries was advertised in the press and on television. This undoubtedly helped the faithful remember the facts of their lives and their spiritual message.
The Martyrs of Pariacoto were raised to the altars on December 5, 2015, in Chimbote, Peru, during a Mass presided over by the Pope’s representative, His Eminence, Angelo Cardinal AMATO.
