On January 6, 2020, the feast of the Epiphany, the annual procession of the Three Magi traveled through the streets of Gdynia for the eighth time. The slogan for this year’s procession was: “Miracles, They Proclaim Miracles.”.
The procession was organized by the Missionary Secretariat of the Province of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe in Poland (Gdańsk), in collaboration with The Procession of the Three Magi Foundation in Warsaw.
The event began with Mass celebrated in the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Afterwards, a crowd of several thousand people joyfully welcomed the Three Magi and accompanied them through the streets of the city. During the procession, African drums were played, “choirs of angels” sang the happy proclamation and biblical scenes were presented by school students, members of local social organizations and other faithful.
The Three Magi surprised everyone, because they arrived on a boat provided by the Naval Academy. The colorful procession ended at the Conventual Franciscan Shrine of the Mother of God, Queen of Hope and St. Maximilian. There, the Three Magi knelt before the Christ Child and all the participants sang Christmas carols.
As in previous years, the event served as a fundraiser for the children’s home hospice “Bursztynowa Przysta.” At the end, Friar Robert KOZIELSKI thanked everyone for participating in the event and encouraged the faithful to support Conventual Franciscan missionary projects.
