Provincial Custody of St. Francis Anthony Fasani in Vietnam
Mother Province: Province of St. Joseph of Cupertino in the USA (SJC)
The Order began its presence in Vietnam in 2004. The first friary was erected on February 21, 2008. Today the Conventual Franciscan presence has been officially recognized by the Vietnamese government. Vietnam has suffered many hardships due to the war that eventually unified Vietnam under the communist regime.
Currently, the Jurisdiction has: twenty-three solemnly professed friars, twenty-two simply professed friars, four friaries, and one filial house.
Hồ Chí Minh City: Annunciation of the B.V.M. Friary
This friary was erected in 2008. It is the seat of the Custodial Curia and also serves as a postulancy house. The friars carry out various pastoral activities in the area.
Văn Môn – Thái Bình Province: St. Andrew Dũng-Lạc and Companion Martyrs of Vietnam Friary
This friary was erected in 2018. The friars carry out pastoral activities in the area, minister to lepers and perform various charitable activities.
Dĩ An City – Bình Dương Province: St. Anthony of Padua Friary
This friary was erected in 2014. It serves as a post-novitiate formation house. The friars in formation study at the Dominican and Franciscan Institutes. Currently, the friars work at various parish churches and in a hospital.
Long Khánh City – Đồng Nai Province: Filial house of St. Anthony of Padua Friary
Đăk Mil – Đăk Nông Province: St. Francis of Assisi Friary
This friary was erected in 2021. It serves as the novitiate. The friars also work at various parish churches and carry out pastoral activities in the area.
