The Conventual Franciscan Mission in Sri Lanka marked a momentous day in its history with the celebration of the profession of solemn vows of Friar Fernando Diluka SACHITH and the profession of temporary vows of seven novices.
The ceremony took place on Monday, September 9, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in the St. Therese Church-Chapel located in the Batapaththala neighborhood of Katana, Sri Lanka. The Mission Director, Friar Simon ELINJELY, presided over the Mass. The profession of vows was officially witnessed by Friars Patrick KANNADAN and Naveen KANDATHIL.
The friars who made their temporary profession were: Friars Heshan JUDE, Jeyarajaseelan JENIPAN, Deneth KANILKA, Anthony DORINGTON, Anuhas SANDHUSHA, Abishek CROOS and Shewan PERERA.
This sacred occasion was particularly significant. Friar Fernando Diluka SACHITH committed himself definitively to Christ and the Conventual Franciscan Order through the profession of perpetual vows, and the seven newly professed friars embraced their first commitment to the Franciscan way of life.
The ceremony brought together friars, family members, and the faithful, who were united in prayer, joy, and thanksgiving. The event represented a milestone of grace and hope for the Mission in Sri Lanka, a witness to the living spirit of St. Francis of Assisi and a sign of the vitality of Franciscan life in the region.
