On December 5, 2025, a new international cultural and technological project dedicated to St Francis of Assisi was launched in Assisi. Entitled “With Francis,” the project is a virtual reality experience produced by WAY Experience and Genesi [both young, innovative companies] in collaboration with the Sacred Convent of St. Francis. It recounts the life and universal message of Francis through immersive technologies, and provides an emotional and engaging experience, especially for younger generations.
The tour unfolds with Francis himself guiding visitors through the stages of his life, namely, his conversion, his discovery of faith, his encounter with the lepers, his creation of the Nativity Scene in Greccio, his experience at Mount La Verna and his composition of the Canticle of the Creatures. The narrative is intertwined with the discovery of the most significant Franciscan sites, including churches, convents, and the hills of Assisi, combining tradition and innovation to create a new and accessible cultural experience.
Marco PIZZONI, the CEO of WAY Experience, explains that the project allows the public to ideally walk with Francis, discovering his life and his message of hope. Giuseppe CAPACCIONI, the President of Genesi, stresses how the project facilitates a direct encounter with St. Francis and makes his universal message relevant today. Friar Marco MORONI, OFM Conv., the Custos of the Sacred Convent, highlights how technology can enrich cultural engagement and bring St. Francis back to life even eight hundred years after his death. The Academic Committee―composed of Friar Marco MORONI, Professor Francesco VIGNAROLI, Friar Guillermo Alejandro SPIRITO, Friar Domenico PAOLETTI, Giuseppe CAPACCIONI, Marta BOLDRINI, and Marco PIZZONI―ensures the content is both accurate and meaningful.
In a world rocked by global crises, this fifteen-minute experience is a journey that renews hope, and shows how faith and the encounter with Jesus can transform lives and lead people from a faint hope to a greater one—focused on others and on creation. The experience is available in the Press Room of the Sacred Convent of St. Francis in Assisi, located at Via Padre Domenico Stella 14A, Assisi, and is available in Italian, English, French, Spanish, German, Polish, and Brazilian Portuguese.
