Purchase of Machines for the Production of Communion Hosts
(Guanare, Venezuela)
The Provincial Custody of Our Lady of Coromoto in Venezuela of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual, has proposed Self-Sustainability Project No. 07/2026, entitled, “Purchase of Machines for the Production of Communion Hosts,” aimed at strengthening the production and distribution of communion hosts for Masses in the Guanare region.
The project came about in response to the difficult socioeconomic situation Venezuela is currently facing. It is impacting the living conditions of the population and affecting the Church’s regular pastoral and sacramental activities. In particular, there is growing difficulty in obtaining hosts for the celebration of Mass due to restrictions on travel between different regions of the country and logistical challenges.
Currently, the friars are producing a small, local quantity of hosts which is already supplying several dioceses. This initiative has proven particularly useful and appreciated by pastors and bishops, since the friars make sure that the hosts are prepared with dignity and in accordance with liturgical requirements. However, demand is constantly increasing and exceeds current production capacity.
To address this need, the project involves the purchase of new machines for the production and automatic cutting of hosts, as well as covering the costs of shipping and importation. This initiative will enable increased production, improved operational efficiency, and wider distribution, ensuring that a greater number of the faithful can fully participate in sacramental life.
The initiative also represents a practical form of self-sustainability, contributing to the maintenance of the Custody’s activities and the support of its pastoral mission in the region.
