On Thursday, April 25, 2019, Friar Silvano BIANCO (42) of the Italian Province of St. Francis of Assisi (Central Italy) was ordained to the priesthood. The ordination took place amid the solemn splendor of the church of Santa Maria di Betlem in Sassari, Sardinia, Italy.
The ceremony was presided over by the Most Reverend Roberto CARBONI, OFM Conv., Bishop of Ales-Terralba (Italian Province of Oristano), in the presence of the Most Reverend Paolo ATZEI, OFM Conv., Archbishop Emeritus of Sassari; the Minister Provincial, Friar Franco BUONAMANO, and numerous priests and faithful from various Franciscan entities in Sardinia. Of note was the presence of a large group from Foligno (Italian Province of Perugia), where Friar Silvano is currently de familia.
His priestly ordination comes after thirteen years of being a deacon, during which time Friar Silvano held the office of Provincial Secretary of the former Province of Sardinia (2005-2017), and served as a Regional Assistant for Franciscan Youth and a Regional Secretary of the CISM (Italian Conference of Major Superiors).
Today Friar Silvano is a collaborator in the parishes entrusted to the San Francesco friary in Foligno, the headquarters of the Provincial Curia.
