From November 29 to December 10, 2021, the Minister General, Friar Carlos TROVARELLI visited the four Provinces of the United States (in preparation for their Ordinary Provincial Chapters, which will be celebrated in April and May of next year).
Friar Carlos visited Castro Valley (SJC), El Paso and Mesilla Park (OLC), Ellicott City, Baltimore and Silver Spring (OLA) and Chicago (SB). He spoke with our young men in formation in Silver Spring (post-novitiate) and Chicago (postulancy program).
While in each Jurisdiction, Friar Carlos met with the government of the Province and with other friars who wanted to speak with him. Friar Carlos also met with the Most Reverend Mark SEITZ, Bishop of El Paso, Texas, and the leaders of the Tigua tribe of El Paso.
Friar Carlos was accompanied by Friar Jude WINKLER, the Assistant General for the Conventual Franciscan Federation (CFF). During the first two stages of his visit, Friar Carlos was also accompanied by Friar Benedetto BAEK, the Assistant General for the Federation of Asian Minors Conventual.
At the end of his visit, Friar Carlos went to the Walters Art Gallery in Baltimore, which features the Missal that St. Francis of Assisi opened three times to discern God’s will for his brothers.
