On February 22-26, 2021, the Assistant General for the African Federation of Conventual Franciscans (AFCOF), Friar Anthony Bezo KUTIERO, visited the Provincial Delegation in Uganda of the Province of St. Anthony and Bl. James of Strepar in Poland (Cracow). While there, he met with the confreres at all three of the Delegation’s friaries.

As part of his visit, the Assistant General spent February 22-24 at the novitiate in Kakooge, where he devoted himself to teaching the novices and conducting a retreat day for them. The novitiate in Kakooge was opened due to health restrictions, which prevented candidates from going to Tanzania for their probationary year; thus the Minister General authorized the novitiate in Uganda to operate for one year.
From Kakooge, Friar Anthony went to Matugga, where he visited the friars’ new hospital, as well as the new convent of the nuns who serve at the hospital. He then continued on to Munyonyo, where he spent some time with our postulants, teaching and interacting with them.
The visit was very fraternal overall and reassured the friars in Uganda that the entire Order is with them during this time of pandemic.
