From February 13-17, four Conventual Franciscan formators from the Conventual Franciscan Federation (CFF), namely, Friars Michael ZIELKE, Jacob CARAZO, Paul SCHNEIDER and Andrzej BRZEZIŃSKI, participated together with ten formators from the OFM friars in a workshop designed to help them with formation issues. The meeting took place at Holy Name College in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA (near Washington D.C.).
Friar Gary JOHNSON, the current Vicar Provincial of the Province of Our Lady of the Angels in the USA (OLA), and a former formator, was also present. Friar Wayne HELLMANN, the former Minister Provincial of the Province of Our Lady of Consolation in the USA (OLC), and Friar Charley MILLER, OFM, were among the presenters. The gathering was facilitated by Dr. Kathy GALLAHER who has long worked with the friars on issues regarding initial and continuing formation. Among the topics discussed were the Franciscan approach to formation, group dynamics, healthy approaches to teamwork, and sexual issues in formation.
