On August 25, 2026, the friar community in Vienna, Austria, celebrated the 90th birthday of Friar Maximilien SAUGE in a special way. In the presence of Friar Maximilien’s family, the community gathered at the parish church in Vienna’s 8th District for a solemn Mass of Thanksgiving.

Several friars from international communities also came for the occasion, in particular, Friar Andreas MURK, the Minister Provincial of the Province of St. Elizabeth in Germany; Friar Vincent COSATTI, the Assistant General for the Centralis Europae Foederatio (CEF); and Friar Miljenko HONTIĆ, the Minister Provincial of the Province of St. Jerome in Croatia. Their presence highlighted the community’s connection with the Order’s international fraternity and the esteem the friars have for Friar Maximilien.
During the celebration, the community gratefully reflected on Friar Maximilien’s ninety years of life and gave thanks to God for the gift of his presence, his journey, and his faithful service to the community.
The community wished Friar Maximilien good health, joy, and strength, and prayed that God might bless him and grant him many more years of service to Him within the fraternity.
