On October 14-19, 2025, the Definitory of the Province of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe in Poland (Gdańsk) held its annual spiritual retreat in Assisi. Among the participants were the Minister Provincial, Friar Wojciech KULIG, and six members of the Provincial Definitory.
The retreat was led by Friar Jerzy NOREL, a confrere of the same Province. Drawing on the texts of the Gospels and Franciscan sources, as well as his own experience of priestly and religious ministry he showed that St. Francis and his process of conversion, imitation, and conformity to Christ are an indispensable dimension of the life of every Franciscan friar. This approach motivated the participants to examine and strengthen their spiritual lives.
Praying in the very place where the Seraphic Father lived and died, the friars thanked the Lord God, through St. Francis, for their Province and its ministries, for each of the friars, and for their benefactors and friends. At the same time, they prayed to have a profound spiritual experience during the anniversaries to be celebrated in 2026, namely, the 800th anniversary of St. Francis’ passage into heaven and the 40th anniversary of the founding of their Province.
