On Saturday, May 23, 2020, our confrere Friar Alaksiej M. JUCHNIEWICZ was ordained to the priesthood through the laying on of hands of the Most Reverend Aliaksandr Yasheuski, S.D.B., Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Minsk-Mogilev, Belarus.

Not every government has adopted the same strict restrictions regarding the pandemic, thus, the situation in Belarus is quite different. In fact, a regular celebration was held at the Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Ivieniec, with the participation of family members and confreres from the various friaries of the Provincial Delegation in Belarus. The Delegation belongs to the Province of the Immaculate Mother of God in Poland (Warsaw).
The friars from the friary in Ivieniec perform pastoral service in four parishes. Two of the parishes are in Ivieniec, one is in Roczawicze and the fourth is in Piershaje, the former workplace of our Friars Achilles PUCHAŁA and Herman STĘPIEŃ, the Blessed Martyrs of the Second World War. In addition, the friars from Ivieniec minister at various local chapels.
Friar Alaksiej was born in 1989, in Ivieniec. It was there he met the Conventual Franciscans, who began doing pastoral ministry there in the late 1980s. Friar Alaksiej completed his formation in Poland and transferred to the friary in Grodno, Belarus, where he served as a deacon and prepared for priestly ordination. His first Mass was celebrated on Sunday, May 24, at his hometown parish, with the altar moved to the entrance of the church.
