On July 1-5, 2024, the Guardians of the Province of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe in Brazil conducted a meeting at the Provincial headquarters, located in the Centro Franciscano de Educação e Cultura (CEFEC) in Brasilia, Brazil. Thirty-three friars were present who serve the Jurisdiction as Guardians, Pastors and Directors of Provincial Works.

The Province has been organizing these meetings since 2008, because in addition to offering specific training on various topics, it also provides some time for Conventual Franciscan fraternity.
The central theme of this meeting was: “Fraternal Life: Practicing Pastoral and Missionary Spirit.” The motto was taken from the First Letter of St. Peter: “The God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory through Christ [Jesus] will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you…” (1Pt 5:10).
The speakers covered a variety of topics during the event. The General Delegate for Formation, Friar Piotr STANISŁAWCZYK, spoke about initial and ongoing formation. The General Delegate for Missionary Animation, Friar Dariusz MAZUREK, spoke about the missionary situation in the Order. The psychologist “Margarete” spoke about emotional maturity. Dr. Márcia Helena RODRIGUES spoke about parish administration. Finally, Friar Gerson PEREIRA DE FIGUEIREDO, spoke about preventing abuse.
The Province holds two meetings for Guardians during each four-year term. The next meeting is scheduled for 2026. The Province will first celebrate its 2025 Extraordinary Provincial Chapter. The Guardians meeting provides great spiritual, communal and fraternal formation. It lets the participants spend time together as a community, taking part in common prayer, concelebrating at Mass, and more.
We wish that all the friars serving as Guardians, Pastors and Directors of Provincial Works, may receive the strength they need to dedicate themselves to fraternal life and administration on behalf of the Province.
