On Saturday, December 14, 2024, Friar Ettore FILIPPUCCI of the Italian Province of St. Francis of Assisi (Central Italy) was ordained to the priesthood. The Most Reverend Domenico SORRENTINO, Bishop of Assisi-Nocera Umbra-Gualdo Tadino, Italy, presided.
The rite was particularly significant because it was celebrated in the Santi Matteo Apostolo e Giovanni Battista Church in Cannara, Friar Ettore’s hometown, located between Assisi and Foligno.
Many friars came for the celebration and to gather around Friar Ettore at this very important moment in his Franciscan vocation. Those concelebrating included the Minister General, Friar Carlos TROVARELLI; the Minister Provincial, Friar Francis LENTI; the Assistant General for the Federazione Inter-mediterranea Ministri Provinciali (FIMP), Friar Giovanni VOLTAN; and Friar Silvano BIANCO, Personal Secretary to the Minister General and a member of the same Province.
The church was packed for this event. Bishop SORRENTINO said he hoped Friar Ettore would be a sign and witness of the Lord’s joy for his people.
We wish our dear confrere all the best and many blessings on his new ministry.
