On October 6–7, 2026, the General Secretaries and Delegates for Mission Animation of the four Franciscan Orders—the Order of Friars Minor, the Order of Friars Minor Conventual, the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin, and the Third Order Regular—met at the St. Maximilian Kolbe Spirituality Center in Carini, Sicily, Italy.
The meeting brought together Friar Mariosvaldo FLORENTINO, OFM Cap.; Friar Francisco GÓMEZ, OFM; Friar Massimo CUGINOTTO, TOR; Friar Dennis TAYO, OFM; and Friar Dariusz MAZUREK, OFM Conv.
The participants focused on preparing two important inter-Franciscan initiatives.
The first was the fourth online meeting in the Evangelizing in Europe series, scheduled for November 17–19, 2026, on the theme “Evangelizing Together: Friars and Laypeople Shaping the Charism Today.” The event will focus on collaboration between religious and laypeople in the work of evangelization. Further information will be available soon.
The second initiative was the upcoming annual Inter-Franciscan Course for Missionaries, scheduled to take place in India between February and March 2027. The course will serve friars engaged in missionary work in that country. Organizers expect thirty religious to attend, including twenty-seven participants and three facilitators. The decision to hold the course in India is in response to requests from the friars themselves, who carry out their missionary work in a vast country marked by great cultural and religious diversity. Further updates on this initiative will follow.
We invite all our confreres, the Poor Clare sisters, and all friends and supporters of the missions to pray for missionaries and for the missionary outreach initiatives of the Franciscan Orders.
Finally, we sincerely thank the Franciscan fraternity in Carini for its warm hospitality, especially Friars Paolo FIASCONARO and Guglielmo BARBASSO.
Friar Dariusz MAZUREK
