On May 10-11, 2025, the friars of the Province of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe in South Korea participated in the HeeHeeHee Youth Festival (named after three Korean characters meaning light, joy, and hope. The festival was held at Dongsung High School and Daehak-ro [an arts district], both in Seoul. The event was sponsored by the Diocese of Seoul. The friars joined with other members of the Franciscan Family and joyfully participated the Youth Festival as brothers and sisters.

The friars performed a harmonious choir rendition of ‘Canticle of the Sun’, the sound track from the film Brother Sun, Sister Moon, and a lively reinterpretation of the song “APT” by Rose and Bruno Mars, with new lyrics and choreography. These creative performances gave the young participants an approachable and joyful image of consecrated life. It helped them feel a sense of closeness to religious brothers and sisters.
We hope and pray that through this festival, many young people will be inspired to dream about the possibility of a religious vocation.
Additionally, youth from the Galsan-dong Parish, in the Diocese of Incheon, where our friars currently serve, had an opportunity to visit the St. Bonaventure Seminary in Hyehwa-dong. During their visit, they were able to glimpse the daily life of friars in formation and deepen their understanding of the Franciscan way of life.
