On October 6-8, 2024, the Province of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe in India conducted its annual fraternal gathering. The event was held at the Provincial Curia, at the Assisi Shanti Kendra Friary in Karukutty, Kerala State, India. It brought together student-friars and friars in formation for a time of fellowship, reflection, and spiritual enrichment.

The gathering began with a solemn procession. Next, there was an opening session followed by Evening Prayer and some communal recreation, all of which fostered a spirit of unity and connection among the participants.
The second day began with Morning Prayer, during which, the friars prayed for Friar Aloysius POLACKAL, who this year celebrated his 25th anniversary of solemn profession. The day’s activities included volleyball and soccer matches, encouraging friendly competition and teamwork. Next, the Minister Provincial of India, Friar Michael EARALY, led a fraternal discussion with the student-friars and friars in formation who shared experiences and insights regarding their vocational journey. The day culminated with a festive Mass dedicated to Friars Louis PANTHIRUVELIL and Aloysius POLACKAL, both of whom celebrated twenty five years in solemn vows this year. The Mass was celebrated at the Assisi Shanti Kendra Friary in Karukuty. The evening continued with a cultural night showcasing the talents of the participants. The evening concluded with a dinner recognizing Friar Louis PANTHIRUVELIL’s 25th anniversary of solemn profession and the 25th anniversary of the erection of the Assisi Shanti Kendra Ashram Friary in Karukutty.
The final day began with Morning Prayer, followed by an inspiring lecture from Professor Varghese PAUL on “The Meaningful Intervention of Franciscan Spirituality.” After a communal lunch, the fraternal gathering concluded, leaving the attendees spiritually enriched and united in their Franciscan mission. Later that afternoon, Friar Michael EARALY and Professor Varghese PAUL conducted various formation meetings.
The annual fraternal gathering highlighted the significance of fraternity, spiritual growth, and community life. It served as a profound reminder of the bonds between student-friars and friars in formation. The event was a resounding success, setting a positive tone for future gatherings within the Order.
