Friar Tomislav GLAVNIK, a member of the Province of St. Jerome in Croatia, has been appointed Director of Caritas Croatia [a charitable organization of the Church]. The appointment was made during the 64th regular plenary session of the Croatian Bishops’ Conference, held April 26-28, 2022, in Zagreb, Croatia.

The President of Caritas Croatia, the Most Reverend Bože RADOŠ, Bishop of Varaždin, Croatia, announced the appointment during a press conference at the end of the session of the Croatian Bishops’ Conference.
Friar Tomislav succeeds the Most Reverend Fabijan SVALINA, who was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Srijem, Serbia in October of 2021. Bishop SVALINA had served as the director of Caritas Croatia since July of 2010.
Friar Tomislav was born on February 9, 1975, in Sisak, Croatia. He made his simple profession on September 8, 1994, in Cres, Croatia. He made his solemn profession on September 30, 1998, in Zagreb. He was ordained a deacon on July 24, 1999, at the Cathedral of St. Kilian in Würzburg, Germany, by Bishop Paul Werner SCHEELE, and was ordained a priest, in Zagreb, on June 10, 2000, by Archbishop Josip BOZANIĆ. From 2007 to 2010, Friar Tomislav specialized in ecclesiastical law at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome.
He is currently a member of the Council of the Croatian Bishops’ Conference for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life where he serves on its Juridical Commission and on its Joint Commission for the restitution of confiscated property.
