Our Order will be participating in the postponed Holy See Pavilion at Expo 2020 in Dubai. The event will now take place October 1, 2021 through March 31, 2022. Its chosen theme is Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.

At the invitation of His Eminence, Gianfranco Cardinal RAVASI, President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, Friar Simone TENUTI will be leading our delegation, comprised of some of our friars together with a group of lay people from our communities. This will be an ideal occasion to proclaim peace and dialogue, inspired by the theme of St. Francis of Assisi meeting the Sultan.
The Expo aims to build bridges between all people, in order to shape a future of peace and dialogue. We will be participating in this event as a means of vigorously proposing that universal brotherhood which is so dear to Pope Francis. In particular, the “Spirit of Assisi” urges us to overcome every obstacle along the path toward reconciliation, starting with our being small and minor.
In his letter dated April 19, 2021, the Minister General, Friar Carlos TROVARELLI, officially authorized the Order’s participation in this initiative. Let us pray that the event will be an important milestone on humanity’s journey towards the construction of universal peace.
