We joyfully announce the publication of “Padre Umberto Zucca, OFM Conv., 1937-2015”, a new book dedicated to this unforgettable friar. The book was published by Biblioteca Francescana Sarda (2020) and edited by Friar Giuseppe SIMBULA for the Maestri e Testimoni series [Masters and Witnesses]
Friar Umberto passed away on July 15, 2015, in Cagliari, Italy. He was seventy-eight. Now, a new book has been written about him, revealing the life and passion of this friar who loved Christ and the Rule of St. Francis. Friar Umberto was a serene and faithful witness of love for the Church and for his brothers. He gave everything he had to his vocation.
After a forward written by Prof. Francesco NUVOLI, the book continues in three sections: Friar Umberto’s life and many offices; an in-depth study of the friar and his pastoral and cultural activities; and the testimony of the confreres and lay faithful who knew him.
Ample space is dedicated to his role as the Regional Assistant of the Secular Franciscan Order and to the crowning achievement of his assiduous studies, his book: “The Beatification of the Martyr Friar Francesco ZIRANO, OFM Conv.,” (2014). Also of note are the cultural and editorial activities that Friar Umberto was involved with, even outside of his home region.
