On August 17-18, 2023, the Pre-Chapter Assembly of the Province of Mary Immaculate in Indonesia was held. During the Assembly, Friar Marian GOŁĄB, the Minister Provincial of the Province of St. Anthony and Bl. James of Strepar in Poland (Cracow), and Friar Dariusz MAZUREK, the General Delegate for Missionary Animation, presented a proposal for possible collaboration between the Provincial Delegation in Uzbekistan and the Province of Indonesia. The proposal was made at the behest of the Minister Provincial of the Province of Indonesia, Friar Cornelius Tri Chandra FAJARIYANTO.
The proposed collaboration was the result of some prior reflection on missions and missionary vocations in our Order. There was also time during the Assembly to address some questions and concerns that had been put forward by the friars of Indonesia.
Afterwards, the participants worked in small groups and presented a summary of their work to the Assembly at large.
The friars of Indonesia decided to continue to reflect on this issue. They will take it up again during the second part of their Provincial Chapter, at which time they will consider the possibility of establishing a presence ad experimentum in Uzbekistan.
Later, the participants attended the priestly ordination of four friar-deacons from the Province of Indonesia and conducted some missionary animation meetings with the men in formation.
