Friar Colin Sammut OFM Conv., Minister Provincial of the Maltese Province of St Paul Apostle, has just been elected as the President of the Council of the Major Superiors (KSMR) of the Religious Congregations and Institutes in the islands of Malta.
The council is a body which promotes collaboration in various levels between all religious institutes present of the islands. As a body KSMR it is meant animate Religious life in these Islands in order to promote a collective witness of consecrated life in Malta.
As a council it also has the role and duty to establish collaboration with Episcopal Conference and with the Bishops of Malta and Gozo.
The Role of Friar Colin as a president of the KSMR will be to: represent the Council as its own President in various situations. He has to preside over the General Assemble and the General Council of the KSMR. He as a president has to pass on the information about directives of the Holy See or other important matters to the General Council.
