Every year, on August 14, the Church celebrates St. Maximilian M. Kolbe. This is a very significant anniversary for all of the friars and prompts them to reflect on the life of the saint, his work and his martyrdom.
On August 14, 2024, the Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico joyfully celebrated the solemn profession of Friar Ángel Ricardo PÉREZ GÓMEZ. He is originally from Cuernavaca, State of Morelos, Mexico.
The celebration took place at the María Inmaculada Friary in Greater Mexico City. As always, those attending included friars from various friaries, many religious sisters and the faithful of our parish communities. The Minister Provincial, Friar Mario CASTRO MARTÍNEZ, accepted the solemn profession of Friar Ángel Ricardo and reminded him, in his characteristic way, of his commitment to live the evangelical counsels.
During the same celebration, and after the rite of solemn profession, there was another joyful event: the rite of entrance of six young men into the postulancy program. These men completed the process of vocational discernment and decided to begin their journey in the Order. Of note during the celebration was the singing of the Sacramentary Poor Clares and the presence of many sisters from the Militia of the Immaculata. The ceremony was followed by a shared meal. The joy of the occasion was evident on everyone’s faces. May God continue to guide Friar Ángel Ricardo during his life-long commitment and may He grant perseverance to the men who have entered the postulancy program.
