On May 10-12, 2024, the Province of the Immaculate Mother of God in Poland (Warsaw) hosted a youth weekend on the theme: “Discovering the Eucharist.” The event took place at the Province’s friary in Niepokalanów Lasek, Poland.
Fifty young people between the ages of fourteen and eighteen participated. The meeting was intensive yet joyful. The highlight of each day was Mass. The meeting program included common prayer, meditation, meeting in groups and a meeting with the speaker, Friar Sylwester Maria GĄGLEWSKI. Friar Sylwester explained the parable of the Merciful Father and the passage in the Gospel about the Samaritan Woman. He underlined how the Eucharist is the only true source of life for every Catholic. He also warned against worldly food, meaning, anything that the world offers us that distances us from life with God.
These kinds of meetings always feature special activities such as a movie marathon with popcorn and some delicacies from Poland’s Holy Cross region. There was also a sort of treasure hunt in which the youth received passages about the Eucharist as the game progressed. They also had the pleasure of being together during the cheerful mornings and evenings. The meeting ended with a Mass at which the parents of the youth also participated. The young people left Niepokalanów Lasek happy, confident and eager to meet again at the next summer retreat.
