On Sunday, May 11, 2025, Friar Adam DUNST of the Province of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe in Poland (Gdańsk) celebrated his first Mass. The celebration took place at the Parish Church of Saints Simon and Judas Thaddeus, Apostles, in Chwaszczyno, located in the Kashubian region of Poland.

The day before, May 10, Friar Adam had been ordained a priest by the Most Reverend Piotr KLESZCZ, OFM Conv., Auxiliary Bishop of Łódź, Poland. Thus, on May 11, he stood at the altar of his home parish church to celebrate Mass for the first time as a priest. The liturgy was attended by many family members and numerous friars from the Province of Gdańsk and the major seminary in Łódź Łagiewniki, where Friar Adam received his Conventual Franciscan formation.
Friar Jacek KORSAK, the Vice-Rector of the seminary, gave the homily. In his touching address, he talked about the deep significance of the priestly vocation. By posing the questions, “Who is a priest? Is it worth being a priest?” he led the faithful present to reflect about the essence of serving God and mankind.
At the end of the Mass, Friar Adam imparted his first blessing, a special gift that a newly ordained priest can offer the faithful. This gesture was an expression of gratitude to all those who guided him along the path of his vocation, namely, his family, his formators, his religious community and his parish community.
Friar Adam DUNST’s first Mass was certainly a personal celebration for the new priest, but also a profound spiritual experience for the entire community. Moreover, many participants took the opportunity to pray for new vocations.
