Provincial Custody of Mary, Mother of Mercy in Central America
Mother Province: Province of Our Lady of Consolation in the USA (OLC)

In 1945, friars from the former Province of the Immaculate Conception in the USA arrived in Costa Rica to tend to that country’s pastoral needs. The friars had been invited by the Most Reverend Vicente Juan SOLÍS FERNÁNDEZ, Bishop of Alajuela. The first missionaries were Friars Eugenio ZWALL; Basil CORBETT; Bonaventure IMHOFF; David SCHULZE; Roman ONDECKO; Hilary MIKETINAC; Eustache BROSENNE; and Bertrand HODES.
