On Sunday, September 14, 2025, the Conventual Franciscan community in Tadepally, India, witnessed a historic moment as Friar Rajkumar NELAPATI made his solemn profession of religious vows, becoming the first friar from the Andhra-Telangana Mission to do so in twenty-five years.
The solemn profession was celebrated during Mass at 8:30 a.m. at the St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, located in the Christianpet neighborhood of Tadepally. The Minister Provincial of India, Friar Michael EARALY, formally received Friar Rajkumar’s vows. Friars Sijo John NJARAKULATH and Sinto A. THIRUTHEL served as official witnesses.
Friar Jerome KURIYADOM spoke about the significance of this event and highlighted the importance of Friar Rajkumar’s commitment, not only for the Conventual Franciscan family but also for the wider Church in Andhra-Telangana, noting that: “This profession marks a sign of growth, hope, and God’s continued work among us.”
The ceremony was attended by friars, clergy, religious, and lay faithful who gathered to support and pray for Friar Rajkumar. The celebration concluded with a reception, which provided some time for fraternity and giving thanks.
This solemn profession represents a milestone for the Conventual Franciscan mission in the region, which continues to nurture vocations and serve the local Church after decades of dedicated presence.
