On November 4, 2021, Pope Francis appointed His Eminence, Friar Mauro Cardinal GAMBETTI, OFM Conv., as a member of the Pontifical Commission for the Vatican City State. Cardinal GAMBETTI is currently serving as the Vicar General of His Holiness for Vatican City, Archpriest of the Papal Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican and President of the Fabric of St. Peter.
The Pontifical Commission for the Vatican City State is the legislative body of Vatican City and is the dicastery that contains the administration of the Vatican City State. The Commission oversees most of the public functions at the Vatican and represents the Vatican on behalf of the Pope. One should mention that legislative decrees are issued both by the Supreme Pontiff and, in his name, by the aforementioned Commission, which also promulgates general regulations.
