On Wednesday morning, April 30, 2025, a Mass was celebrated at the Seraphicum College in Rome, for the purpose of blessing the College’s new chapel dedicated to St. Polycarp of Smyrna. The chapel is located in the hospitality wing of the Seraphicum complex (Holiday House).

The Minister General, Friar Carlos TROVARELLI, presided over the Mass. Others present included the Procurator General, Friar Maurizio DI PAOLO; the Exactor General, Friar Leszek ŁUCZKANIN; the Guardian of the Seraphicum, Friar Adam MĄCZKA; the Econom and Administrator of the Seraphicum, Friar Enzo GALLI, student friars, benefactors, and those who designed and carried out the renovation of the new hospitality wing and chapel (the entire second floor on the friary side).
The liturgy began with the Rite of Blessing of the chapel and continued with the Eucharist offered on the new altar. Friar Carlos thanked all those who contributed spiritually and materially to the realization of the new chapel. After him, Friar Enzo GALLI, the Econom and Director of the work that was done, warmly thanked all those who participated in this important project. The event ended with the blessing of the whole assembly.
The new chapel is dedicated to St. Polycarp of Smyrna, Bishop and Martyr. The central part of the chapel features an icon of the saint, which was donated by our confrere, the Most Reverend Martin KMETEC, OFM Conv., Archbishop of Izmir (Smirne), Turkey.
