On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 7:00 p.m., the Ministry of Acolyte was conferred upon nine temporarily professed friars, all members of the Seraphicum College formation community in Rome. The event took place during Mass presided over by the Rector of the Seraphicum, Friar Adam MĄCZKA.

During his homily, Friar Adam spoke to the candidates quoting from the earlier edition of St. Francis’ Letter to the Clergy, “Let all of us, clergymen, consider the great sin and the ignorance some have toward the most holy Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Letter to the Clergy Earlier Edition 1, FF 207). Here, the Poverello of Assisi is speaking to those who administer the sacred mysteries. He invites them to carry out this service with due honor and decorum. Receiving the Ministry of Acolyte is one more step in the vocational journey of these friars. By the gift and grace of Christ, they are given a ministry in which they support the church community by assisting priests and deacons during liturgical services.
Those who received the Ministry of Acolyte are: Friars André M. GHANAAT RAHBAR, Augustine KADDU, Benedict Nestory MSOFFE, Moses Johnmaria FIDELIS, Paul MUTAASA, Ronnie KIBAGAJJO, Simon Michael SHIMBE, Tomás Valerio ZEBALLO CABALLERO and Vladyslav PASHAYEV.
Fraternal best wishes to the new acolytes. We pray for them and for all those who are discerning priestly ordination. May they persevere in their journey.
