During the 2023-24 academic year, the Pontifical Theological Faculty of St. Bonaventure (Seraphicum) in Rome will once again offer its two-year Licentiate Course in Contemporary Franciscanism.

This course is a cycle of studies typical of the tradition of this academic institution. The Franciscan charism is in the limelight today thanks to the magisterium of Pope Francis and the ever timely message of St. Francis. Classes will resume on October 5, 2023, and will be taught by a roster of acclaimed professors. The two-year course entitles students to the academic degree of Licentiate in Theology. Moreover, it can be an inspiration for those who love and live the Franciscan charism to engage in further study.
The course includes classes in Franciscan spirituality, the study of the Franciscan sources, the history of Franciscanism, the Franciscan mission, Franciscan ecology and economy, Franciscan theology, Franciscan prayer and more.
The lineup of guest instructors includes the Most Reverend Felice ACCROCCA, Archbishop of Benevento, Italy; Friar Pietro MARANESI, OFM Cap.; Friar Bernardo MOLINA, OFM Cap.; Friar Carlos Esteban SALTO SOLÁ, OFM; Friar Zdzisław KIJAS, OFM Conv.; Maria Teresa DOLSO; Friar Massimo VEDOVA, OFM Conv.; Father Lorenzo CAPPELLETTI and other excellent scholars.
The Faculty continues its multi-year mission of furthering the study of St. Francis and his legacy.
Students may also attend the course online. This will be of great help to friars, and others, who are unable to come personally to Rome. Students, therefore, may follow the lessons comfortably, even outside Italy, as is already the case with other friars who are enrolled in this course and are now candidates to obtain a licentiate degree.
