Meeting – Online Forum on New Evangelization
“Current Evangelization in Europe:
A New Evangelization? The Franciscan Contribution”
Dear brothers, may the Lord give you peace.
I am writing this letter to invite and encourage you to participate in our first online meeting about the challenges that Franciscans face regarding the field of New Evangelization in the European context.
The meeting has been organized and coordinated by the Secretaries (Delegates) of the General Secretariats for Mission Animation of the three First Order obediences (for us, “SGAM”).
Since the start of the current term, we have been particularly concerned, along with Friar Dariusz MAZUREK, the General Delegate for the SGAM, to implement Motion No. 1, which was approved by our last Ordinary General Chapter. Among other things, it states: “Collecting and analyzing information on the state of our missions and on New Evangelization initiatives underway in our Order” (Motion No. 1, c).
To offer our confreres even greater richness, we proposed this theme to the Assembly of the Ministers General of the First Order and the TOR. It is in this context that we have decided to jointly propose this first meeting, which can then mature into other areas of formation and collaboration.
I invite you to participate―as a community, if possible―in this first meeting, to hear real experiences, to broaden the discussion and to envision possible paths for New Evangelization in Europe.
The online meeting will take place November 7-9, 2023, according to the attached program.

Online Inter-Franciscan Missionary Formation Course for Europe
At the behest of their Ministers General, the Secretariats for Evangelization and Mission of the Order of Friars Minor, Friars Minor Conventual and Friars Minor Capuchin have organized an online course entitled, Current Evangelization in Europe: A New Evangelization? The Franciscan Contribution. The aim of the course is to revive, reflect upon, update and promote Franciscan evangelization in Europe today.
From the beginning of the Franciscan movement, the friars have played a very important role in the evangelization of Europe. With our distinctive charism, the Order of Minors has always responded with great generosity and creativity to the needs of the Church in different times and contexts. Today, too, the Church is counting on our collaboration. We must be attentive and work together to do our best during these very difficult times.
The course will be offered November 7-9, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, as follows:
Tuesday, November 7
9:00 a.m. – Introduction to the course section, the speaker and the methodology used (10 minutes)

To participate in the course, please access the link below and fill out the form. To encourage greater participation, we ask the Guardians to fill out one registration form per fraternity. Where this is not possible, individual registration forms can be filled out.
The course will be conducted in Italian with simultaneous translation into English, French, Spanish, Polish and Croatian.
We ask all Provincials, Custodes, Delegates and Guardians to encourage their friars to participate, and to provide, in advance, the technical means to facilitate their adequate participation.
