On September 10-12, 2021, the National Fraternity of OFS in Spain conducted an elective Chapter at the Casa de Espiritualidad in Camino Cristo del Pardo, Madrid, a retreat center run by the Capuchin Friars.
The National Council sent in all the reports, well in advance, including the report from the National Spiritual Assistants. The elective session of the Chapter, held on Saturday afternoon, was presided over by Attilio GALIMBERTI, a member of the Presidency of the International Council of the Secular Franciscan Order (CIOFS). He was delegated by Tibor KAUSER, the OFS Minister General, and was assisted by Friar Alfred PARAMBAKATHU, OFM Conv., one of the General Spiritual Assistants. Among the thirty Capitulars convoked, twenty-nine attended the Chapter. All the four National Assistants and two Regional Assistants were also present at the Chapter. Antonio ÀLVAREZ was elected to his second consecutive term as National Minister. According to the National Statutes of the OFS in Spain, the National Minister is also an International Councilor. The new National Council was installed during Mass on Sunday morning, presided over by the National Assistant, Friar Miguel CAMPILLO, OFM Conv. Friar Alfred preached the homily. Friar Valentin REDONDO, OFM Conv., attended the Mass on behalf of the Minister Provincial.
