On April 21-22, 2022, in the midst of the Easter Octave, the Province of Our Lady of Montserrat in Spain celebrated an Extraordinary Provincial Chapter. The purpose of the Chapter was to approve the new Provincial Statutes, which had undergone revisions in order to make them conform to the recently approved Constitutions and General Statutes.
The Chapter took place at the San Buenaventura Friary and College in Madrid, with the Minister Provincial, Friar Juan Antonio ADÁNEZ SILVÁN, presiding. The Procurator General, Friar Maurizio DI PAOLO, was also present and provided technical advice. Twenty-one Capitulars attended.
On April 23, at the end of the Chapter, the friars celebrated a “Province Day.” Each year, the Province celebrates its Province Day on the Saturday closest to April 27. April 27 is the feast day of Our Lady of Montserrat, the Patroness of the Province. The friars heightened the festivities by celebrating a community Mass together and enjoying a fraternal meal. During the event, Friar José GONZÁLEZ SÁNCHEZ, the Guardian of the friary in Palencia, Spain, celebrated the 25th anniversary of his solemn profession. Numerous lay faithful, connected with both of the friaries in Madrid, attended the Mass and afterwards enjoyed an aperitif with the friars. Later, Friar José’s relatives joined the friars for lunch.
