On July 1-3, 2019, the Province of Spain celebrated a Spiritual Chapter at the Capuchin Franciscan “Cristo de El Pardo” Retreat Center in Madrid, Spain. The theme of the Spiritual Chapter was, “To Better Live the Holy Gospel: A Look at the Revised Constitutions.”

During the Chapter, the friars learned more about the history of previous Constitutions of the Conventual Franciscan Order through a presentation by Friar Valentín REDONDO, called, “Where Do We Come from and Where Are We Now? A Historical Tour of the Constitutions”.
Friar Víctor MORA MESÉN introduced us to some new items found in the approved text of the revised Constitutions, through his presentation entitled, “What’s New? Basic Perceptions Regarding the New Text”.
Then came a presentation on the situation in the FIMP Federation, delivered by Friar Joaquín AGESTA QUEVAS, the former Assistant General for the FIMP. The theme of his talk was, “From Letter to Life: The Incarnation of the Text in the FIMP Federation”. Friar Francesco RAVAIOLI, OFM Conv., gave a lecture on the challenges facing Conventual Franciscans in the 21st century, with his presentation called, “Dare to Dream. Minor Brothers in the 21st Century “.
After some feedback from participants in the Extraordinary Chapter for the revision of the Constitutions and in the Ordinary General Chapter, we moved on to a discussion about the status of the Province of Spain within the FIMP Federation.
