On Friday, April 3, 2020, Friar Juan Antonio ADÁNEZ SILVÁN was elected, by letter on the third ballot, as the new Minister Provincial of the Province of Our Lady of Monserrat in Spain.

Friar Juan Antonio was born in Almorox, Toledo, Spain, on September 6, 1958. He attended the Minor Seminary with our friars in Palencia. After his novitiate year in Zaragoza, he made his simple profession on September 12, 1976. He studied philosophy in Assisi and theology with the Jesuits in Sant Cugat, near Barcelona. Finally, in 1983, he earned a licentiate degree in Spiritual Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.
Friar Juan Antonio professed his solemn vows on September 4, 1982, and was ordained to the priesthood on May 12, 1984, by His Eminence, Marcelo Cardinal GONZÁLEZ MARTÍN. The ordination took place at San Cristóbal Church in Almorox.
He worked in several parishes across Spain, including parishes in Seville, Zaragoza, Palencia and Barcelona. He also taught at the San Buenaventura College in Madrid where he served as the Chair of the Pastoral Ministry department. He was a Provincial Delegate for Youth and Vocations Ministry and from 1998 to 2000, worked as the Director of the National Secretariat for Youth and Vocations Ministry of the Spanish Conference of Religious.
He served four terms as a Provincial Definitor and was a collaborator on the magazine of the Province of Spain,  Antena Conventual. Most recently, he served as the Vicar Provincial and as the Guardian of the friary in Valladolid, Spain.
