“The Shell” is now available in the Apple App store and Google Play store. This app was developed by the Conventual Franciscan Federation (CFF) website “FranciscanVoice.org,” in collaboration with the Order’s office for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC).
The Franciscan Voice pilgrimage app (“The Shell”) accompanies pilgrims visiting holy sites who are seeking peace and striving for goodness.
This free app for smartphones can also be used to accompany virtual pilgrims who cannot make the physical journey. Regardless of where the pilgrim is, this app brings to life “Franciscan Sidewalk Spirituality.” Walking along the everyday paths that we travel, Franciscans always find a way to proclaim the Gospel by connecting it to everyday life. From Assisi to Rome, from Canterbury to Oxford, from Baltimore to California, “The Shell” pilgrimage app will bring peace to our hearts by encouraging the goodness that is already within us.
Each pilgrimage begins with a welcome video. There is then a series of podcasts, each corresponding to a group of photos. At the end of each episode, the pilgrim can collect a virtual pilgrimage badge, which is then stored in one’s “pilgrim passport.”
In 2025, more pilgrimages will be added for the Holy Year. Pilgrimages, currently available in English, will soon be available in Spanish and Italian.
