The Ministers General of the Franciscan Family and the President of the IFC-TOR (International Franciscan Conference of the Brothers and Sisters of the Third Order Regular) have addressed a letter to all Brothers and Sisters worldwide, inviting them to join in prayer as the international community prepares for the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-30), scheduled to take place in Belém, Brazil, on November 10-21, 2025.

In the context of the 800th anniversary of the composition of the Canticle of the Creatures, the letter invites the entire Franciscan Family to renew its commitment to ecological conversion, understood as a profound transformation of the heart, mind, and lifestyle, in harmony with all creation. Inspired by St. Francis and Pope Francis, the Ministers General remind us that care for our Common Home is an essential dimension of the Christian and Franciscan vocation. They call us to prayer, action, and witness of life in fostering justice, peace, and the care of creation.

This fraternal appeal is combined with the hope that the COP-30 Conference will inspire discernment and a global commitment to a sustainable future for all humanity.

The full letter is available in Arabic, Croatian, English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, and Hungarian.
